Just to pass on some information I have made this rather long post.
There is a blog dedicated to Hurricane Katrina disaster coverage. Here is the announcement:
InternetCrusade, in coordination with NAR Certified e-PRO Trainer Mary
Kay Hopkins from Lake Charles, Louisiana, has launched a Blog directed
at REALTOR relief efforts in the Hurricane Katrina aftermath.“The purpose of this Weblog is to match needs resulting from Hurricane
Katrina with the talents and resources of the real estate community.”You can access the blog at http://KatrinaBlog.RealTown.com
The Blog is interactive and we welcome your comments to postings. We’re
looking for practical ideas of how we can help those affected by this
tragedy. We recognize that NAR, state and local associations are working
very hard at coordinating relief efforts. Also, if you would like to have us post a message for you, or if you
have links and resources that are relevant, please feel free to e-mail
me at John@InternetCrusade.comSaul, John and Mike
Thanks for the effort Mary.
I am in Memphis right now so here are a few of my personal observations:
- I sat next to a guy on the rental car bus who lost “everything”. He was traveling on business to his new job and his house was going up for sale next week before he moved permanently. He has a brief case and three days of dirty clothes. Thats it.
- When I checked into the hotel, the clerk asked me “Any pets?”. I was taken back. When walking up to my room I realized that the hotel is now an apartment building.
- The big hardware stores have SUVs in front loading generators.
- One gas station raised the price of regular from 2.67 to 2.77 to 2.87 in the space of 30 minutes.
- There is a run on ice. Most SUVs with generators have gas containers and ice chests. Going South I presume.
- My rental car bus driver’s name was Catrina
