Illinois Association Presentation

I presented to the Illinois Association’s Technology Workgroup in Itsca, IL today. Jeff Kolbus is this year’s chair and did a nice job managing the session. Matt Brewer provided staff support that included the first use of Microsoft Live Meeting for those who could not attend.

I discussed blogs and their impact on marketing real estate websites. In addition to discussing the impact to members’ websites, the group considered the impact of blogs on association web presence.

The group asked “How do you reduce the liability to the Association if membership had access to a blog?” I thought this was a great question. I thought about restricting access via password protection or heavy moderation. In the first case, syndication would be impossible and in the second, an additional burden to staff.

I will post on the topic as I hit other venues.
